RJC Response to Hagel Confirmation

Editor’s Note:

I know I posted yesterday that I was becoming totally disinterested in politics but felt I must come out of my hiatus to post on the Hagel Confirmation. I’m disgusted. Below is the Republican Jewish Coalition’s response to the confirmation of the anti-semite… Heard that Rand Paul did vote for Hagel and am trying to confirm that.

RJC Responds to Hagel Confirmation:
Hagel Choice Sends Wrong Message to
Our Allies and Adversaries

Washington, D.C. (February 26, 2013) — The Republican Jewish Coalition released the following statement about today’s Senate vote on the nomination of Chuck Hagel to be secretary of defense:

We are disappointed that Chuck Hagel’s nomination won confirmation from the Senate. Respecting the President’s prerogative to name his Cabinet members does not outweigh the Senate’s duty to examine nominees and withhold consent from someone who is not qualified for the office.
Chuck Hagel’s statements on Israel and the “Jewish lobby” raised serious concerns about his fitness to serve. His views on Iran are also deeply troubling. Hagel’s appearance before the Senate Armed Services Committee showed that he lacks an understanding of the issues facing our defense forces and national security leaders. And he does not have the experience in running a large and complex organization that would make him an effective secretary of defense.
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, “Sadly, we continue to believe that the choice of Chuck Hagel for this post sends the wrong message to the American people, our allies, and our adversaries.”

Romney Gets 85% of American Votes In Israel; Affecting FL & OH

Awesome awesome awesome! The outreach to the Jewish vote is working! Even the head of Democrats Abroad in Israel is supporting Romney after voting Democrat for her entire lifetime! Baruch HaShem!!!!!!

More good news is that the Orthodox & observant community is growing! And, the early reports are showing that Obama is expected to get 49% of the Jewish vote. In 2008, he received almost 80%. I really hope all of the hard work within the community will pay off and we will reach my under 50% goal.

Be a mensch; vote for Mitt!

From the Guardian UK:

Most Americans living in Israel have voted for Mitt Romney, poll finds

Votes from American-Israelis could make a difference in swing states, according to iVoteIsrael campaign group By Harriet Sherwood

“Eighty-five percent of the 80,000 American-Israelis who registered to vote through iVoteIsrael backed the Republican candidate, the survey indicated. The organisation claimed that in states where the race is tight, expatriate voters from Israel could make a significant difference. Around 7,500 Israelis are registered to vote in Florida, and 3,500 in Ohio.”

“…voter participation had quadrupled from the 20,000 Israelis who voted in 2008, and that between 20% and 25% of all overseas votes this year would come from Israel.”

Busy Since June

Wow I just noticed that I haven’t been here for a while, since June??? Wow. Just wow.

Anyway, as you can guess, I’ve been busy, quite busy. Work, spiritual stuff, and dealing with the onset of what I can only describe as pre-diabetes aka “The Diabetes Monster Is Coming To Get You.”

Oh, I am going to meet someone famous later this week… provided I can get downtown in time. I’ll write more on that later and hopefully get a picture or two. It will be great research for one of my other blogs.

Went back to the 2nd Intro to Judaism class last Sunday. It was fun and we had a good discussion on the holidays and the nature of God. I’ll write another blog about that another time. We had really good sandwiches from Schmaltz Deli in Naperville. Yes, they deserve a free plug on my blog. GO. THERE. NOW!!!! Also, it looks like I found the Sephardic family line, which is coming from a part of the tree I wasn’t expecting. Need to do more research BUT if I am right, conversion is not necessary. I can just go to Israel without it.

Election 2012… yeah, planning my parachute. This blog is meant to be more of a light thing, no heavy politics here. BUT I’m not paying Obama‘s taxes. He can kiss my ass and I’d enjoy the chance to tell him in person to sit and spin.

But yeah, I’ve been trying to get the house organized. I do ok for a while but then I get hit with a diabetic coma for a few days and BAM the house gets screwed up. Seriously, there are days when I cannot get out of bed. It sucks. I started putting up new curtains and need to finish. I did the downstairs living room and now need to clean the carpets. Ooh, the loft is actually usable. I still have crap to sort through and to clean the carpets.

Which reminds me, we adopted a new kitty in August! Her name is Callie Kitty and she is a poofy Calico. She is 12 and loves to eat everything lol. She and Puddy still fight a little, but it’s just hissing and swatting. Neither has front claws.

Oh well, need to get back to stuff. TTYL!

RJC: Rift in Democratic Party on Israel Shows How Much Party Has Changed

New RJC ad:”This is no longer the Democratic Party of our parents’ generation.”
Washington,  D.C. (September 7, 2012) — The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) today announced the release of a new print ad, entitled “Rift,” which points to the deep split among rank and file Democrats when it comes to supporting Israel. This rift is a sad example of how much the party has changed over the years.

The ad reads, in part: “At the Democratic Party convention in Charlotte, NC, it’s become painfully clear that this Party is no longer the Democratic Party of our parents’ generation. This week has witnessed a shocking series of events. These regrettable incidents reveal a Party that has wandered far from its origins.”

The ad will run next week in 11 Jewish newspapers as full-page ads in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Nevada.

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, “Important pro-Israel language was stripped from the Democrats’ platform this year, including lines recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and calling Israel America’s ‘strongest ally’. When they tried to reinstate the language on Jerusalem, the convention chairman couldn’t get a clear two-thirds vote and just declared the language added – receiving loud boos from the convention floor.

He continued, “This is a sad display by the Democratic Party and is an indication of how much the Democratic Party has changed in recent years. It was chilling to watch; who could have imagined the day when supporting Jerusalem would be resoundingly booed at a Democratic convention?”
